Pregnant School

Every woman has the right to adequate education and information on pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and reproductive health. Informing expectant mothers during pregnancy should be regarded as a maternal right.

The aim of the program is to ensure that all pregnant women are informed about antenatal, delivery, and postnatal topics, that their knowledge is kept up to date, and that they give birth consciously. Expectant mothers are equipped with knowledge and skills on normal labor, pain management, and adopting their new roles.

It is aimed that pregnant women and the relatives who will accompany them during birth are informed about;

• That pregnancy and childbirth are physiological processes, and the physiological and psychological changes involved,
• The importance of partner and relative support during pregnancy and childbirth,
• The stages of labor,
• Non-pharmacological methods of coping with labor pain,
• Problems that may occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period, and their early recognition,
• Danger signs in pregnancy and the steps to take in emergencies,
• The benefits of normal birth for mother and baby,
• The postpartum (puerperium) period,
• Danger signs in the postnatal period and newborn care.

Pregnant women can obtain sufficient information on these subjects from pregnant schools opened in primary healthcare facilities affiliated with the Ministry, pregnant schools within Ministry-affiliated hospitals, university hospitals, and private healthcare institutions.

We aim for pregnant women to be informed about antenatal, delivery, and postnatal topics and to give birth consciously.
